Alley Rally

Objective: When the ball is coming directly at the player, to improve lateral movement and to swing completely through the ball.

Drill: Both players start the rally 2 feet behind the baseline inside of the extension of the doubles alley. They rally straight ahead in the doubles alley. To position themselves correctly for a ball coming directly toward them, they focus on moving laterally to have the proper spacing to execute the shot. The players focus on recovering back to their starting position after each shot. To direct the ball down the alley the players should imagine the doubles alley as a long, narrow hallway to ensure they extend their forward swing through the target.

Scoring: Play games to 11 where all shots must land inside the doubles alley. The drill is best suited for intermediate to advanced players.
